Rotarians:

It is with great pride and honor that I begin my year as President of the Rotary Club of South Hill. We have just finished an outstanding year under the leadership of President Tommy Zincone. Every member can be proud of our accomplishments in 2007-08. I promise to do everything in my power to continue the good work and good fun that we experienced last year.

I hope that we will have fun as we go about our Rotary business; and I hope that we will have fun in our meetings with interesting programs, activities, and fellowship.

I plan to continue focusing our Rotary Club toward community based projects such as participation in Market Square and Revitalization Events, honoring our agricultural heritage with Farmer’s night and honoring our dedicated men and women who serve our community in the fire department, police force, and rescue squad. I am also very dedicated to the education of our young people. I want to continue our active participation in “lunch buddies” and the “accelerated reading program” at South Hill Elementary. I wish to also add a new program at that school in the form of a "Dictionary Project" which has been highly successful in many Rotary Clubs nationwide.

We will continue our new program of a Four Way Test Essay Contest and of course our Scholarship Program which I hope will grow in the number of scholarships offered.

Rotary International’s theme this year is "Make Dreams Real". This theme is intended to focus on young people and our efforts in the past have been exceptional and it is my intent to continue to expand those efforts. Also, in keeping with this theme I would like to continue to share Rotary with new members. We have been blessed in the last few years to have added some outstanding new members to our club. I also want to establish a membership development program that provides the new members with information about Rotary and begin to develop Rotary leaders for the future.

Let's continue to work hard to play hard and to above all have fun serving above ourselves.
